Green Spaces

Anacostia Community Museum’s Green Spaces Photodocumentation program visually documents remaining green spaces in Washington, D.C. ‘s ward eight. These photographs highlight the beauty and unique ecology to be found in the area.
The Green Spaces program is a part of the Urban Waterways project which focuses on the Anacostia River and its watershed. The Anacostia River, formerly the Eastern Branch, has long been considered one of the nation’s most troubled urban rivers. The watershed of the river covers more than 175 sq. miles, and is one of the nation’s most densely populated.
